Our firm is committed to full transparency regarding the fees we charge.
Fees are determined according to the time spent on the matter and the applicable hourly rate. Under this arrangement, the attorney responsible for the file provides the client with an estimate of the hours required and maintains a detailed record of time spent, available to the client on request.
This approach is used where the course of the proceedings involves little uncertainty. The firm agrees with the client on a fixed sum covering the entire handling of the matter.
Where expressly provided for in the fee agreement, additional remuneration based on achieving a specified outcome may supplement a “minimum” fee, calculated on a fixed or hourly basis. A success fee cannot, however, constitute the sole basis of remuneration.
Where a client requires ongoing legal assistance from the firm on a regular basis.
Article L. 723-3 of the French Social Security Code provides that every pleaded hearing is subject to a statutory levy. In 2020, this levy stood at €13 (the amount is subject to periodic revision). This sum is separate from professional fees and remains payable by the client.
Under certain conditions, the firm accepts instructions on the basis of full or partial legal aid (aide juridictionnelle).
Applications are made using Cerfa form no. 15626*01, together with the required supporting documents, and must be submitted to the legal aid office of the competent court.
Clients are encouraged to check whether they hold a legal protection policy, which may be included within an existing insurance contract (home, vehicle, bank card, etc.).
Where applicable, this arrangement allows the insurer to cover part of the fees owed by the client, in accordance with the scale set out in the policy. Any amount exceeding the covered scale remains payable by the client.
It is the client’s responsibility to check for any legal protection cover attached to their insurance policies (home, vehicle, bank, supplementary health insurance, etc.) and to have this information available at the first meeting.
A legal protection insurer may not require its policyholder to instruct a particular attorney; the choice of legal counsel remains with the client.
