Career

Attorney-at-law and former consultant to the United Nations in Switzerland, Morocco and Lebanon, Salima Dabbaoui practises in criminal law, family law and immigration law.

Salima Dabbaoui practised at the Bar of Thonon-les-Bains in criminal law (police custody, plea negotiation hearings, expedited proceedings, criminal mediation, criminal court) and family law (divorce, juvenile court proceedings, visitation and custody arrangements).

Salima Dabbaoui spent over six years working within the United Nations system in Geneva (Switzerland), Rabat (Morocco) and Beirut (Lebanon).

Salima Dabbaoui has developed particular expertise in asylum matters. She previously served as a protection officer for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) within field operations in Morocco and Lebanon, working with asylum seekers from more than 34 Francophone, Anglophone and Arabic-speaking countries.

Salima Dabbaoui also volunteers as an attorney with the U.S.-based NGO Advocate Abroad, assisting asylum seekers with appeal proceedings worldwide.

Salima Dabbaoui established her practice in Annecy to assist clients across a range of legal matters.

Education

Education and Professional Qualifications

Holder of two Master’s degrees in business law and international law, Salima Dabbaoui completed her legal education in France and the United Kingdom.

She also completed specialised training in asylum law and immigration law in Egypt (American University in Cairo), Tunisia (UNHCR) and Morocco (UNHCR).

Salima Dabbaoui was a finalist in the 2019 moot court competition on refugee law organised by the HIJRA Legal Clinic (Tangier, Morocco).
